Installation & Tech Specs
1. Locate Your Main Water Shutoff Valve: Find the main water shutoff valve inside or outside your home. 2. Check Valve Compatibility: Confirm that your existing valve is a compatible lever-style ball valve and that the operator has sufficient mounting clearance. 3. Test Your Valve: Make sure the valve opens and closes smoothly before beginning installation. 4. Select the Correct Mounting Bracket: Choose the manufacturer-approved mounting bracket that fits your valve. 5. Attach the Mounting Bracket: Secure the bracket to the valve body using the appropriate mounting hardware and a Phillips screwdriver. 6. Position the Motorized Operator: Carefully position the device over the existing valve handle, following the manufacturer's mounting instructions. 7. Align and Secure the Device: Ensure the motor's turning mechanism is properly aligned with the valve before tightening the mounting hardware. 8. Connect the Power Supply: Connect the controller and manufacturer-approved power supply according to the installation guide. 9. Set Up Leak Sensors: Position and pair compatible leak sensors near water heaters, washing machines, sinks, and other areas where leaks may occur. Sensors must be included in the purchased package or obtained separately. 10. How It Works
1. Fit Your Existing Valve
Install the Bulldog-JW operator onto a compatible existing water shutoff valve, following the manufacturer’s instructions. No plumbing modifications are required when the valve and installation space are suitable.
2. Position Your Sensors
Place the three included, pre-enrolled battery-powered wireless sensors near areas where leaks commonly occur.
3. Respond Automatically
When a sensor detects water, the configured system triggers the operator to close your existing valve, helping stop the water supply and limit potential damage.
4. Stay Connected
Connect the built-in Wi-Fi for supported app-based remote valve control and email leak alerts. These connected features require internet access and appropriate setup.
Protection Without a Smart-Home Hub
Local sensor-triggered shutoff does not require a smart-home hub, internet connection, or cloud service. The system’s components must remain powered and properly connected for protection to operate.
Important Information
The system detects water at the sensors’ locations and operates your existing valve. It does not measure household water consumption or identify every possible leak.
This system helps reduce the risk of water damage but cannot guarantee prevention of every leak or plumbing failure.
